Went over to the Pirate Store yesterday to check out Onomy Lab‘s GeoConnect Table. It will be there for 2 weeks and people can interact with the table between noon and 6pm daily.

Scott and Dale with the Geo-Connect Table

“The result of a collaboration of high school students from John O’Connell High School, new media artists JD Beltran + Scott Minneman, author Stephen Elliott, and 826 Valencia, “49 Stories” introduces an entirely new form of storytelling. Through the magic of technology developed by Onomy Labs, viewers can discover, explore, and immerse themselves in stories throughout the 49-square-mile geography of San Francisco as well as all over the world by interacting with a large interactive “story table” that fuses maps, text, images, sound, interactivity, and even the storytellers’ own voices.”

You can tilt and spin the table to navigate each geo-located story and standing at certain points will kick off audio of the actual kid telling their story. The rest of the world is navigable as well!

UPDATE:
According to Scott, the Magic Story Table viewing is now extended through March 25. Definately worth checking out!
